About James Mielke

James Mielke has spent over two decades leveling up in various facets of the video game industry, from journalism (Ziff Davis Media) to communications (Shinra Technologies/Square Enix) and development (Q Entertainment, Q-Games, Tigertron). Prior to entering the games industry, he survived a head-on collision with a NYC taxi cab while riding his motorcycle up Central Park West. Until this fateful moment he worked primarily as a freelance designer and illustrator for a wide variety of clients, including Marvel Comics, Condé Nast, Hearst Publications, Graj + Gustavsen, and Gray Advertising.

James once owned a bar, called NW3, in NYC’s East Village, acting as its resident DJ from early evening until the wee hours of the morning. Since 1990 he has performed in clubs in NYC, San Francisco, and Tokyo. James currently lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two kids, all the while dreaming about crashing his next motorcycle.
